Waves in life (times of loss or suffering) can really take a toll on us if we’re not prepared for them. A principal that I’ve learned at Chick-fil-A as a manager is that it’s easier to prevent a problem than to try and put one out. The thing about life is that waves will crash at some point. So how do you prepare for these waves that are coming to shore? Waves start deep in the ocean. What you see at the shore is a result of something that started many miles out in the water. I want to get straight to the point. What kind of foundation have you laid in your life to prepare for the waves that are approaching?
Picture yourself at the beach and watching the waves crash on the shore. Now think back to one of the toughest times you’ve experienced. How did you react? The way you reacted to the situation you experienced is a direct reflection of the foundation that was laid weeks or maybe years ago. Are you prepared for the waves to crash in your life? What will you do when everything comes crashing down and you have no place to turn?
If you’re a Christian, your foundation has to be the Word of God. Anything else in life that you make your foundation will crumble at some point. I challenge you to read the words of Christ and hold onto His promises for they will not return void.
“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” Romans 8:18
