The powerful worship song No Longer Slaves by Bethel Music is filled with words that brings glory to God. We have been singing this song at Northside Church for a couple of months now. If you’ve never heard it, please take a moment to listen. It has really resonated with me and helped me so much in my walk with God.

The words I’m about to write are intended for the Christian to read. If you’re not a believer, I would be glad to share with you what it means to be a Jesus follower, please message me on Facebook, Twitter, etc.

“I’m no longer a slave to a fear, I am a child of God.”

What are you fearful of? What is something in life that is stopping you from being all that God created you to be? Do you really think you’re a child of God?

I want us to think about what life was life before we became Christians. My guess is that life was probably a lot different for us. I know it was for me. I was a good church kid on Wednesdays and Sundays, but when I wasn’t on the church campus, I was a completely different person. Is that you? Are you the same person no matter what your environment is? Maybe you’re fearful of not fitting in with your friends or the “cool” crowd. Maybe you’re fearful of what people will think about you when you tell them you’re a christian. When you said yes to Jesus, the Holy Spirit gave you the ability to overcome fear. The greatest news in the world is that you don’t have to do it on your own anymore. We try so hard to do life on our own…that we cripple ourselves from living how God intended for us to live. When Jesus died on the cross and rose on the third day, he gave you the benefit of what he did! The amazing thing about the Gospel is that your fears also died on that cross. They’re gone. Forever. The reason that they’re gone forever is because Jesus just didn’t stop there, he rose on the third day to give us life.

“So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.” Galatians 4:7

If you’re reading this right now and are 100% sure that you’re a Christian, I’m begging you to live like it. The church also needs to stop judging people who do not follow Christ. We are called to love ALL people, no matter who or what they identify with. Live in the freedom that Jesus gave you and love the people around you. What God will do will amaze you. Don’t let life bring you down. Live in the power that’s been given to you.
