Many of you know that I’m a big raving fan of Chick-fil-A and not because it’s where I work, but because I believe in the culture of Chick-fil-A. I started working as a team member at Chick-fil-A at the age of sixteen. This was my first job in the “Real World.” As a sixteen year old…it was a big deal. I had my first ever check written in my name and money that I earned was able to be deposited at the bank by myself without my parents help. It was a big deal. So after all these years why am I still so passionate about this company? Let me give you three reasons:

1. Excellence.

Chick-fil-A as company strives for excellence in everything. We are not in this “just to get by.” We deep down want to serve the best chicken sandwich you’ve ever had…every time. No matter if you eat Chick-fil-A Monday through Saturday, we want it to be great every time. We don’t want to be an average chicken restaurant. We want to Be Remarkable in everything that we do. Chick-fil-A pays attention to detail. Even the way we fold the foil bag that your chicken sandwich is presented in.

2. Service.

If you have any experience dining at a Chick-fil-A restaurant, you’re familiar with the emphasis we place on service. You may have asked the question “How does Chick-fil-A train all of their team members to be this great?” That’s an excellent question. Here’s the secret: We love to serve. I know that sounds so simple, but it’s so true. We have created a culture of service as a company and the result of that culture is great service to our guests.

3. Leadership.

This is a big time buzz word: Leadership. What is leadership? How do you define leadership? I would highly encourage you to research leadership if you’ve never done so. Leadership is not a title. Leadership is a lifestyle. This is what Chick-fil-A teaches as a company. They set the vision and then give you all the tools to make that vision a reality. The catch is that it’s up to us to make it happen. Dan Cathy (The President of Chick-fil-A) isn’t going to be at each restaurant 52 weeks a year. It’s not physically possible. He leaves it up to us to make the vision a reality and we do this by serving everyone with excellence.
