The most dangerous ways to travel today is by automobile. Isn’t it crazy to think that flying in an airplane thousands of feet in the sky is safer than driving your car? A couple of years ago I was in my first car wreck, and it was scary. I know as a man, in today’s culture I’m not supposed to say I was scared by or of anything, but It’s the truth…I was scared. I was driving home from work late at night and was rear-ended WHILE I was moving at 45mph. Stories like this are ones that you can’t make up. It was the craziest thing. My parents couldn’t believe it when I told them what happened. Have you ever been living life and then BAM something happens that you weren’t expecting?

My mentors like to call this “Life.” Sometimes things happen in our lives that are completely out of our control. Life is going great and then in the matter of minutes it seems like the world is ending. We are in a state of shock and don’t know how to handle all the emotion and feelings involved. There is good news. Our God is sovereign.

Romans 8:28 says “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

Sometimes we don’t understand why things happen to us the way they do, but God has a plan. I have countless stories of events that have happened in my life that I didn’t understand in the moment of why it happened, but months sometimes even years later it all started to make sense. I have had a lot of those “Aha” moments. I look back and say “Thank you God!” Also remember that there is personal responsibility involved as well. You may be going through a season because of a decision you made months, maybe even years ago. The key is that we learn from the past and move forward. If you’re feeling down and you feel like there is no hope, don’t feel that way. Look towards Jesus for the hope in your life.
