Wearing a white wedding dress has symbolized “purity” in the life of the bride in the Western world. Wouldn’t you agree that this is a lot of pressure on the bride? I would say yes. Here’s 2 reasons why every girl should wear a white dress on their wedding day.
1. In Christ You’re A New Creation: It’s easy for us to think only about our past mistakes. Maybe you’re that person that wishes you could make different decisions if you could go back. Maybe you’re that person that wouldn’t change a thing about your life. No matter what your story is: Jesus came to give you a new life. If you’re wedding day is approaching and you can’t get this out of your head, take this moment and start a new chapter in your life. “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” 2 Corinthians 5:17
2. Jesus Covers All Sin: Some of us may have been taught that some sins are worse than other sins. This is simply not true. It’s sad, but more often times than not, it’s the Christians that judge you for your sins. We are the ones that make you feel like your life is not meaningful because you’ve made some mistakes. Who are we to call you out on that? This has to stop! God doesn’t give anybody the right to judge you for the sins you’ve committed. Should we keep each other accountable and help each others walk with Christ? Absolutely. “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God freely and graciously declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.” Romans 3:23-24. God is the one who declares us righteous, not man.
Maybe you’re a young woman who is struggling with this. Maybe you’re worried about what people will think. Let me tell you that it’s more important about what Jesus thinks. Wear a white dress showing that you’ve turned away from your past and you are striving to live a Holy life before God. White symbolizes purity in the Bible. You are pure in Christ.
