I’m 24 years old now and I thought my life would be a lot different at my age. When I was graduating high school, I had the years planned out of where I would be and what I would be doing. God definitely had plans for my life that I was unaware of. In 24 short years, I’ve racked up my own mistakes. I think we all have in our own different ways. Some of us may write our mistakes on a sheet of paper and begin to categorize which mistakes were the worst ones, the better ones, etc. This is a dangerous way to think. It will cripple your soul. We know from the Bible that our thoughts turn into words, and our words result into action. God spoke the world into existence! That is one incredible truth to think about.
So what is your struggle? What mistakes or bad decisions that you’ve made are crippling your soul? Let’s learn from Moses in the Old Testament:
Exodus 14:13-16 says, “But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.” Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the people to get moving! Pick up your staff and raise your hand over the sea. Divide the water so the Israelites can walk through the middle of the sea on dry ground.”
Don’t Be Afraid
This hard for us to live out in our lives. We are afraid that people will not accept us because of our past mistakes. We are afraid that if we tell our best friend certain details of our lives that they won’t talk to us ever again. But what does God tell Moses? Stand Still and watch the Lord rescue you today. There is a time to get moving, but there is also a time to stand still and let the Lord work in our lives. What is that one thing that you need to be rescued from? The one thing that you’re thinking about right now is what you need to give to God. The moments we stand still and let God work in us is always followed by a breakthrough.
This is the breakthrough. God has showed you what needs to be given to him. Now it’s time to get moving, but we don’t want to! We want to stay right where we are because it’s comfortable. God promises when he says he will rescue you, he will rescue you. Trust in him. We like to give the excuse “I’m just not sure yet, I need to pray about it more.” There are times to stand still, and there are times to get moving. This is one of those times. Your past does NOT define you. It’s not God speaking if you feel like you can’t start moving. Tap into the power of God and watch him work in your life. You are a child of God and he cares about you and wants the best for you. Trust in him.
